Scientific Library

The Scientific Library of the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute provides library and information services in the field of environmental protection in the broadest sense, primarily for the needs of the Institute’s research staff. The library’s collections are available to all interested parties directly in the reading room. Books may only be borrowed by Institute staff.

For non-staff members, loans are made on the basis of inter-library loans from other libraries. Use of the collections and services of the Scientific Library of the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute is free of charge. Users pay only for the services provided – for photocopies and computer printouts.

The library catalogue, which operates on the KOHA system within the Institute’s network, contains books and journals entered into the computerised catalogue, which has been in operation since 1994.

Zbiory znajdujące  się w katalogu kartkowym prowadzonym od 1986 r. (utworzenie biblioteki) do 1993 r. są sukcesywnie wprowadzane do katalogu on-line.

The following items are not available for loan:

  • books forming part of the library’s reference collection and held in stock at the departments,
  • encyclopaedic, dictionary, bibliographic and other reference publications,
  • journals,
  • items in poor condition, as well as reprints and copies,
  • unique works that are difficult to acquire, containing a large number of tables, maps and illustrations, and portfolios with loose sheets.

The IOŚ-PIB Research Library is open on working days from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Please contact the library in advance to arrange a time for collecting or returning borrowed books.
