IOŚ-PIB and the Ministry of Finance signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the development and use of the MANAGE model

On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the Director of the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute Marcin Stoczkiewicz, PH. D., and Deputy Minister of Finance Paweł Karbownik signed a Memorandum of cooperation for the development and use of the MANAGE general equilibrium model, developed and made available by the World Bank. The aim of the cooperation is to support energy and climate policy through the development of scientific research and analyses based on economic modeling.

The MANAGE model will be developed within the framework of the cooperation, in parallel at the Ministry of Finance and at the Centre for Climate and Energy Analysis (CAKE) within the organisational structure of the National Centre for Emissions Management (KOBiZE), a unit that is part of the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute.

The Ministry of Finance and CAKE are collaborating to conduct analyses in support of economic development and the transition to a low-carbon economy, as well as the implementation of climate and energy policy goals. Activities under the agreement will be carried out in accordance with the respective areas of expertise of both institutions.

IOŚ-PIB is a leading scientific and research unit in the field of environmental protection in Poland. For many years, it has provided scientific knowledge to public administration and economic entities.

The activities of both institutions will achieve the goals of high quality analysis and effective support of decision-making processes in the field of energy and climate policy.
