The second Copernicus Land Monitoring Service General Assembly (CLMS GA) was held in Krakow, Poland, on 20-22 May 2025. The CLMS service is jointly implemented by the European Environment Agency (EEA), which coordinates the European component, and the Joint Research Centre (JRC), which coordinates the global component. The event brought together policy makers, researchers, industry representatives, as well as users of CLMS service products in Europe and globally.
The experts from IOŚ-PIB: Agata Hościło, Kinga Kulesza and Marcin Żaczek presented two posters: “National maps of land cover land use and its changes for the LULUCF sector in Poland”, based on the results of the InCoNaDa project (www.inconada.eu), and “Application of Sentinel-2 data for mapping tree species and detecting forest decline”, presenting the results of the project funded by the National Science Centre entitled: “Assessment of the impact of weather conditions on forest health status and forest disturbances at regional and national scale based on the integration of ground and space-based remote sensing datasets”.
The presented posters were a good examples of the application of CLMS products for the preparation of a harmonised, uniform map of land cover and land use for Poland, and the application of satellite data for tree species classification and examination of the forest health condition. The results of the InCoNaDa project, were also presented by Prof. Monika Cysek-Pawlak from the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, Technical University of Łódź.
The participation at the CLMS GA2025 was a great opportunity for presenting and discussing the project outcomes, networking and exchanging experiences and views on the portfolio of the CLMS products, visions for further development of the service and challenges facing satellite remote sensing.
